Thread: Possum fangs?
01-16-2009, 05:08 PM #1
Had a big old possum that lived around the house for years. Found him in the yard dead yesterday. Stuck him in the trash this morning and couldn't believe the fangs on this guy. I had no idea their canines stuck outside their mouth like that. Nose to tail he was easily 3 ft long. Wonder what the neighbors thought about me taking pictures of my garbage on the street this morning at 6am in -1 temps.

they have to have teeth like that to tear a hole in the rear end of a cow so they can get in where the good stuff is!

I looked at the picture first. I thought it was passed out.

So is it normal for them to have such large canines like that or was this one just really old? I've never noticed them on any other possums that I have enjoyed gazing at in my spare time over the years.NRA member #196246209

Can you get it back out of the garbage and give us some measurements ?"I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow." ---Fred Bear
