If you could have any elk gun

If u could buy any brand and any caliber, what would your elk gun be?? what model, cal. etc.??

Avid hunter, would like to hunt every game in north america if possible

Remington Model 721 in .300 H&H magnum. Because it is in my closet and for the last 29 years I've never found anything to take it hunting for that my 06' couldn't handle. While I have every confidence in my 06', it would at least give me an excuse to take the .300 out at least once.

I'd have to use the ole' Remington Model 700 30.06

Easy, my Model 98 Mauser, chambered for the 8x57mm; 190gr. BTSP's at 2700 fps do the job on everything up here in Alaska, and elk fit right in. Honestly, your best bet is to get something reasonable, cartridge-wise, load it with decent bullets, and practice, practice, practice. Face it: a 30-30 that hits sqaure and proper outperforms a marginal hit with a 375 H&H Magnum!
