What gun and the boss

hi everyone, i am looking for a elk gun mostly, but i know that one day i will hunt any game i can. So should i go with a 7mm wsm or a 300wsm. Im afraid the 300 mag is to much kick. And how mush does recoil does the boss system stop.

Avid hunter, would like to hunt every game in north america if possible

The BOSS is not really a recoil reducer as much as other muzzle brakes that you can find out there. The BOSS will reduce to about 30% felt recoil, where as most of the other choices reduce to 50 or more%. The BOSS is fortweeking the accuracy a bit. For calibers, I'd suggest the .340 or .338 as BEST all around on elk size game. The 340 Wby is hard to beat on anything short of elephants, not that it wouldn't work, but it's not allowed.

I don't think there is a Elk around that will walk from a 300wsm!
the recoil is pretty good,but not that of a 338,it would be up to you to pick and make the shot.good luck

I have an A-bolt 30-06 without the BOSS and a 300 Win Mag with the BOSS. In my opinion the felt recoil is less with the 300 Win Mag with BOSS that the recoil of te 30-06. Just my opinion.

go out to www.chuckhawks.com He has some great recoil tables and also discusses muzzlebreaks. He has a great website to compare different rifles and calibers. Multi's right it takes felt recoil down about 30% and that would take it down to less then a 30-06.
