    Default REM 700 problem?

If I put 4 shells in the gun the top shell which sets to the left side of the magazine is hard to get chambered. It will actually scrape some of the lead off the bullet the 3rd shell goes in smoothly and the 2nd also to the left side will rub slightly. Anyone have any suggestions of why this would happen. Fixing to take it to the gun smith it don't seem to safe to me. The caliper is 270 .

Two suggestions, make sure the base of the shells are all the way back in the clip. Another, try taking some tension off the clip spring. You can do this by taking it of and applying some pressure to it with pliers, don't over compress it or it will break or you load the clip and leave it laying in the off season, this will weaken it.

Make sure there isn't some kind of burr on the lip of the mag well on the left side.

Try only loading 3 in the mag. With one in the chamber, you'll have 4 and that should be plenty. It'll cycle better like that, vs/ cramming it full.
