    Default Remington 600

When I was a boy Remington came out with a little bolt action carbine called a Remington 600 in several calibers. Even though only about $100.00 dollars, I couldn't afford one. I've always liked the little gun and would like to add one to my collection. Does anyone have experience with this gun or information on them or where one could be found for sale?

I had one in .308 many years ago. It shot well, but kicked like a mule. Loaded, scoped, and with a fat sling, it was 6 3/4 lbs, and too light, at that. I sold it and bought a 700BDL, which never shot as well, and still kicked harder than I liked. All in all, they were good guns, but butt-ugly. Wish I had kept it, but that was then, and money was tight for a high school kid. Check some of the auction sites like gunsamerica.com, maybe you can find one there. Good luck.

Remington brought the gun back this year. It's a little different, not much though.

I've seen pictures of the new 600. It just doesn't seem the same. You know how it is, first love, anything else just doesn't do it. Sigh.

The old 600's and 660's have a cult following. Prices for used rifles are very high when one is sold.

I like the 600 better than the 660 because of the ventilated rib that the 660 does not have. I just like the looks better. Prices can range from 500 or so, to 1,000/2,000. The Magnums are higher on the price range. It seems you never see one at gun shows.
