Default Hunting Lake Barkley Duck Island

One of my hunting buddies got drawn early in the Lake Barkley Duck Blind draw. We pinned a spot on the south side of Duck Island. Any advice?

A guy I know pinned the north end last year. It was a joke. What little ducks there were flew the lake like a slowum course. They were litterly fly around the blinds. I could have drawn first and there is still no way I would have pinned on duck Island. But thats just me, maybe other people do well down there. My advice is make sure your dues to the Audoban Society are paid up. My guess is you will be a bird watcher..... HEATH

addicted- Ducks Island can be an excellent place to hunt and it can be one of the worst. They planted crops on the refuge which should help keep ducks in the area. When that happens hunting is normally good especially if we get decent migrations. I don't hunt down that way much if any. I normally just pursue divers up north.

Any advice given by someone from last year should be taken w/a grain of salt as last year was not exactly a banner year on the lake.

From someone that has hunted the lakes oftan,it hasnt been a good year in several years. You will kill a few ducks some days and some days you will kill nothing but time.

    My advice...

if you have ducks in range, you better shoot at them instead of waiting for them to finish or someone else will.

You're going to have a whole lot of competition down there I would imagine.
It's not so much if you win or lose - it's how you shoot the flaming arrow while riding a camel.
