Thread: WMA's best ones for turkey

Default WMA's best ones for turkey

Would like suggestions for WMA's that have good turkey populations without too much hunting pressure to have any luck. Thanks!

Try Yatesville Lake WMA Ray Charles could kill a turkey there without help.

Not sure about that one, but everywhee we went the past weekend grouse hunting seemed to be good turkey spots. The drive and overnight in a local motel would be worth not fighting a huge crowd. Try Paintsville WMA also. Hope like hell you and turkey are on the same ridge top!

You got it Multi, Yatesville or Paintsville WMA are excellent, I have seen more 30lb Birds on Paintsville than any place I have been, don't over look Dewy Lake WMA or Grayson Lake WMA as other selections in east KY.

What about in Western Ky area?

Never hunted Peabody myself, but know some who have. They say it's loaded with turkey. Quite a few people too, but it's big enough that you can usually find some spots that aren't being pounded. Might take awhile to find some sweet spots, though.
