Got em all down here. Had one bite me one time fishing, good thing I had on waders. The fangs didn't go thru and the stupid thing was hung in the rubber. Talk about getting your leg out of a wader quickly!! Went back to the truck and got my shot gun and blowed snake and wader both to pices.
Didn't matter the wader was a little soiled anyway !

Non-poisonous snakes don't bother me at all, but that kind of stuff scares the crap out of me!! I don't need any poisonous snakes or spiders!!

I grew up near Murphy's Pond, which has to have the largest concentration of Cotton Mouths on God's green earth, & fished there frequently as a child, so I have seen a ton of them. The big ones tend to be very aggressive &, on more than one occasion, have provided me with motivation to put some yardage between me & them. Why do you ask, Kemo Sabe?

Seen lots of them on Tradewater. Them critters are in the Hendo bottoms also, seen a few during early woodie and teal season.

Biggest one I seen was on Tradewater just up from the mouth at what they call horse shoe bend. It was about 5.5' long, big around as a pop can and 1' from the boat. Ol Mr. Ruger gave him a very bad day.

As Joe mentioned, most reported sightings are common watersnakes which are harmless. I have personally never seen one, although I know there a few scattered around in different areas.

These pics came off the Corp property near KY Dam last summer.
