Thread: Anyone hunt the fall shotgun season?

  1. #1

Default Anyone hunt the fall shotgun season?

How did everyone do that was either brave enough or stupid enough to hunt turkeys in this weather?

I went out with Redbone and after seeing more than 75 turkeys in 1.5 hours, I took a jake with a muzzleloading shotgun at 19 steps. We saw lots of birds and finally coaxed 4 young gobblers in to our 2 jake dekes. It was cold, but lots of fun.

I went out to Taylorsville WMA and didn't see anything. I heard a few yelps around sunrise and actually heard a lone gobble which suprised the heck out of me. I still have a couple of days though. Tim, did you hunt private land?

Yes, it was a private 200 acre farm in Shelby Co. that a friend has permission on.

I made a blind on the edge on my clover field and put up my umbrella roof over it to keep the snow off my neck. I only saw hens and elected not to shoot. I can't get excited about shooting hens for some reason. Good deal, Tim on the m.l. kill!

I hunted hard today, had birds all over me, saw around 50. Anyone needing help on setting up about 15 yards OUT of range? I'm your man

Tim, looks like u had a lot milder weather than I did! I heard turkeys but didn't see any. Hunted about 4 hours, and I literally got covered with snow. I enjoyed being out though as we don't often get snow like that. I'm going to try it again tomorrow afternoon and try to get lucky.

Good job, looks like the TK2000 did its job! Merriams and Eastern's in the bag! We'll finish the other two for the TK2000 slam in a few months. Now it's time to concentrate on mallards.

I had a blast hunting with Tim, saw lots of turkeys.

Tim, still can't believe you passed on that one shot! LOL

I am not a spectator of nature, but rather a participant; a hunter.
