Got home last night to a double bacon meatloaf and homemade bread. Had me a couple of sandwiches then and another today for lunch. Bacon one was ground with the venison to make the burger, 75/25 or so, bacon two was what you see draped over the top while cooking. Couple loaves of homemade bread fresh out of the oven and sliced, so soft you could barely get it to hold together in the sandwich.

I have all my stuff out, but it's not a lot. I put buckets over the mater and cucumber plants, and spread sheets of newspaper over my peppers, as well as the beans and sunflowers that just had put their heads out of the dirt. It just took a little while to cover everything up last night. I left alone the hills of punkins, squash and zuchinni since they haven't broke the surface yet, and they've been in the ground 12 days, so I suspect I may need to replant anyway after they sat in mud for a week.

I had a light frost this morning, but the sun had it burned off by 7:30. We should be home free now.

I have been in the mood for brisket for a while and haven't had time to do one up. Cheryl had to work today and I knew, after a turkey hunt with Potroast this morning, I would have some time to cook. Of course no one in lawrenceburg had a decent brisket yesterday. I did find a big(6 lb) chuck roast that looked like it had plenty of marbling so I picked it up. Rubbed it down and let it warm up a bit this morning while I fired up the smoker. Smoked it heavy for 6 hours then wrapped and finished to 195 like I would a brisket. While the meat was cooking, I doctored up a pan of baked beans and stuck them on the smoker as well.

While everything was smoking away, Michaela and I made up a couple of loaves of homemade bread. Sliced it up and made us a sammich.

Roast after unwrapping
