104,000 deer harvested so far this year. Isnt this way below what the state had hoped for? I thought the goal was for around 200,000

They also estimate we have right at 800,000 deer. So far this season out of 15-20 hunts I've saw about 15 deer total. Most in one hunt was 4 deer.
If 200,000 is the goal that Ky F&W wants I feel we will be several thousand off.

I've seen less hntrs in the woods and heard fewer shots than I have in the last 15yrs. I loved it!
I believe we will have almost no second rut on avarage state wide because of how few does there are over all, I think that practicly all
have been bread 1st go around.
The dept. may have shot them selves in the foot on this one.

They want more does harvested. At present, it's running about 53% buck/47% does.

You guys need to kill more does!!!!

A few more years of this and I'll get out my bell bottoms and funky colored shirts. Deer numbers are just like they were in the 70's. Go huntin and just see a deer and that was a good hunt. Shoot more does. OK, where the hell are they? Can't shoot what you can't see.

I have seen more hunters and less deer this year than the past 6 or 7 years. Most of the deer taken are not called in so we may have had 200,000 taken so far this year. I know before the season I had seen 5 bucks(the 2 big ones killed are not included!) and as many as 8 does/fawns at a time in my food plots. Pretty close to a 1-1 ratio. After gun season I have seen only a doe and button buck. Take more does somewhere else. I would like to at least see a deer next year.

Yeah....how are we to harvest more does when they don't exist? I have 156 acre farm with 3 acres of soybeans, 2 acres Biologic, and about 3 acres of alfalfa. The rest of the farm is hardwoods and cedars. The most does I saw at any time during the summer and late fall scouting were four! Three years ago before the Amish tribes moved in on my first bowhunt in the bean field I saw 17 in one afternoon. Most in that same bean field this year...again four deer. A doe and three fawns. So why does Garrard continue to be a zone 3? It certainly doesn't need a 10 day doe season. But really....with no law enforcement it doesn't matter what zone a county is.They'll still hunt and take as many deer as they want to. Now I'm sure that in some counties, including Garrard, that there are more deer in some parts of each county than others. My main problem in southern garrard in my opinion is the year round poaching from the low life Amish. They rape the land and wildlife and have no fear of getting caught.
Two years ago the weekend BEFORE gun season I counted 18 shots the first hour of daylight while I was bowhunting. That same afternoon, 13 shots around the last hour before dark. I was pissed so I called the local CO that night. He informed me that they were probably groundhog hunting. Yeah..I shouldn't have figured that out. What was I thinking!
