This past spring turkey season, my hunting buddy and I began to experiment a lot with the gobble call, with great success. Anyway, we sat up one afternoon in prime turkey ground and I clucked and purred a little, and my buddy would answer with a gobble. We'd only did this a couple times and I watched in amazement as a small coyote ran dead on toward my partner and his gobble calls. The coyote got within a few feet of him and I watched in amazement as my buddy waved his arms trying to get the coyote to leave. The stupid coyote would jump back a few feet, then start easing toward him again. Finally I yelled out for him to shoot the damn thing (along with a few expletives) and he did just that. I have had them respond to my calls before, but they were very wary and would take off as soon as they smelled you. We gave it to a game warden and it came back negative for rabies. Weird.

Im watching outdoor strategies right now and the same thing just happened, except they were using hen calls. It is weird.

Several of my hunting friends have had coyotes to come in to their decoys. One fellow I work with had a coyote to grab a decoy and get away before anyone could even raise a gun to shoot. My guess is that the coyote decided he didn't like the taste of turkey half as much as he though he would!

Have had them come in on numerous occasions turkey hunting, never took one though.
Had one stalk in to about 60 yards of out waterfowl decoys last year in Canada too.

Sure. I had a bobcat come to my calling at Peabody last season! Stood in front of me 15yds and would not run off. I even took my facemask off and talked loudly to it. Finally got bored i guess and simply sauntered off!
what u get out, is what u put in
Turk, I had the same thing happen to me this year on my ground. Scared the crap out of me! I honestly thought that this thing was going to pounce(sp) on me.[:0]

Killed two on opening day that I called in with hen calls. That happens at least once a year.
In Colorado a few years back, I was working a bird that suddenly flew, for no apparent reason. I looked around, and there was a mountain lion about 20 yards away. I thought I was toast.

I had a coyote come in several years ago and stalk my decoys, it saw me raise my gun and was out of there. A friend of mine last spring shot a jake and as the bird was flopping he emptied his gun and while picking his shells up getting ready to retrieve his bird a coyote came out of nowhere and grabbed his turkey and took off with it. He didn't get the coyote or the bird.
