Shot at a doe today twice and missed both shots. My gun was zeroed in at 100 yards and the shot was approx 100 yards. Since sighting in the scope I removed the stock to turn down the trigger pull. I thought that since the scope was mounted directly to the barrel it wouldnt be a problem. Its a weatheryby vanguard 300mag. Do you guys think this caused the problem? Perhaps I just made bad shots or I may have bumped the scope?

Well Bownewby. It has been several years since I harvested a deer with a firearm but to answer your question. Thou shalt not alter thy gun after the gun is zeroed in. The same rule applies with all methods of pursueing the whitetail.[:D]

To pursue the Whitetail with a bow is the supreme challenge. Everything else pales by comparison......Xtreme.[;)]

Taking the stock off shouldn't have been a problem if it's properly bedded unless you didn't torque the trigger guard screws back right. The back one needs to be as tight as it was before you took it down, but the front one is only to be snugged up. Don't over tighten this one or it will alter the point of impact.

Maybe you didn't miss????

I would say you hit her and the bullet went right on through without expanding.

You should mark the bolts on your rifle to maintain the same torque, just like you mark the limb bolts on a bow to keep the limbs equal.
