I have always said, and always will say:
WALMART SUCKS DONKEY BALLS!
They sell censored music, their automotive service department is staffed with baffoons, their prices are expensive compared to other large grocery and department stores, and every store in Lexington is always filthy! There is always some inbred old alzheimer's patient waiting by the door to check your reciept regardless if you're in a hurry or on the phone or too busy to stop and let them check the recipt knowing damn well they aren't even going to look inside the bags at what you actually purchased. I only frequent that cesspool of a department store ONLY if I have no other option. I personally don't understand why so many people like that place. Spend your money at Kroger, or Meijer, or K-Mart, or ANYWHERE else. Please excuse the rant.

me too multi! I must admit that I don't hate wal mart, but I hate to fight the crowds. I do hate the fact that they are single handedly putting most small retail shops out of business.

Yeah, I'm with you Skin_dog1 I don't hate the place but I do hate the fact that they are putting small business out of business. I try to support the local guy if they have reasonable prices. But I'm not paying $20 more for a $40 item to support him. I'll pay a couple dollars more but not 1/3 more. Doesn't seem like I can go to walmart and get out the door without spending over $100 though.

K-mart is still a no go for me,and should be for every gun nut after they let rosie decide their firearms and ammo sales.

Sportsmen bankrupted them shortly after and i'll still not spend a penny there.Wal-mart sucks too though, even if i love to buy those Win. USA .223's.

You got to go to Wal mart and buy stuff to support all those new jobs guys..How you expect them to keep paying those salaries if you dont..

Here we go with the politics![;)] All I can say is atleast they have a job. Not all, but alot of the people who work at wal-mart are either retired, lacking mentally or physically, don't need to work or don't have the ambition to do more. I'm sure there are those that use the part time income to help support a family also. I'll bet there aren't alot of college educated people with ambition ringing you up at the checkout line in wal-mart!

A friend of mine closed the doors on his "Mom and Pop" store last week, that had been in the family for over 100 years. He couldn't compete with walmart.....Walmart sold things cheaper than he could buy them whosale...including gas.

I dont like going but if it hadnt been for the gas station our local gas companies here in Somereset would have raped us .They would raise their prices 10 to 30 cents for the weekends ,and most of the time wal mart's station would leave it the same or lower it.then the next day the others would come back down.If it wern't for them I believe we'd have gotten to 2.50 a gallon!

They must have something going for them, otherwise they wouldn't be the biggest in the world. They can only do what they do because their revenue stream supports it--which translates as sales.

I'm sure Walmart has been the demise of some Mom & Pops. However when I lived in Tell City we were raped by the local gas barron. When Walmart put in pumps our gasoline prices dropped to the lower end of the spectrom rather than 5 to 10 cents higher than other towns. I don't like the fact that the hunting gear is seasonal. What I really don't like is when I forget something on one end of a superstore and have to walk a mile back to pick it up.
As far as competition goes, I grew up in the furniture manufacturing business and now most furniture is imported. Things just change!

The fact of it is, Wal-Mart started out as a mom and pop store. Obviously Sam Walton figured out something years ago that everyone else has yet to accomplish. Also, we cannot blame anyone but ourselves, consumers determine the market.

I'm not against the idea of a walmart. Just poor customer service. I believe that when a company starts to put policy ahead of customers they will loose. I know I use to shop at walmart not because I thought their prices were cheaper but if the POS they sold me broke I could take it back (with out question) can't do that at target. I remember getting the third degree from a target one time. Returning something to sear is like finding a needle in a hay stack.

What burns my biscuts about Walmart is that they may have 30,000 customers a day and only post 3 cahiers.

45 minutes to by a pack of toilet paper and a box of cookies.

You do the math. The managers at Walmart obviously can't!

I never can find much that I like at Wal-Mart anymore. I enjoy fishing and camping, and although they do have a few things there that I like, thats the problem. It's only a few things. I do most of my shopping out of Cabela's and Bass Pro, even if it is costlier. That way I get what I want.

I would rather give my money to a mom and pop shop, since both my mom and pop have their own seperate small businesses. I know first hand how it is to compete with Wal-Mart. It's just that in this area there aren't many mom and pop shops to compete with. Of course, I have been known to find some things to mail order from places around here that make their own fishing lures. Some of my favorites are made by locals.

It's obvious they can do the math! When old Sam was alive, his policy was if there were ever more than three people in a line, a new register would open.

I have recently become a "Associate in Training" at the local Wal-Mart store. Just to pick up a few extra dollars from a second job. Now this is just my opinion from what I've seen on the inside. Wal-Mart is a strong believer in the chain of command, store manager gets his/her butt chewed, he/she chewes the department manager because he just got chewed, they in return chew on the team leader for awhile because they just got chewed and in return they think they have to chew the associates butts because they just got chewed. With that being said with all the butt chewings, no one looks at what the associates can do, I have over 10 years experience hunting and fishing but none in grocery but I work in the grocery section, the guy in sporting goods has no experience in the outdoors but has 5 years experince in grocery, the woman that works as a cashier has been making homemade quilts for over 25 years but not in fabrics etc etc etc. IMO everyone is trying to make thereself look good instead of looking at the resources that they have that being there employees.
