I like to run, and I do nearly all of it at night. Last week, I was running about a mile from home on an unlit street (I know sounds stupid, but I veer off into yards when cars are coming) when I noticed some motion to the side. Out "darts" a frikkin' possum, and I STEPPED ON IT!! I screamed because it scared me to death, then it ran away the way it came from. I hate those stupid things!

Be thankful it wasn't a skunk.

I hear you hammer. When I used to run I once ran up on one. He started hissing at me and I like to have peed all over myself. I tend to think about things and didn't pay attention to my surroundings.[:D]

Have never seen a possum running but I have had a few coyotes run across the road in front of me. I run on a secluded gravel road that goes through fields and woods and it will startle you when they cross real close to you.
Catch and Release
It wasnt one of those girlie screams was it?

hammer, does your brother run on western? I've seen him a couple times I think. If it isn't him, let him know he has a twin over that way!

that's him! He was on the state champ cross country team in high school, and he still is a good runner now.

I'll "light him up" next time I see him and say hello!

On my way to my stand this past sunday morning, I was walking through a pasture without my flashlight on. I heard a hissing sound from my left and clicked on the flashlight and there about 10 feet away were 2 skunks. One was all puffed up and acting bad. I didn't give him a chance and took off running. No I didn't scream but it sure brought my heart rate up.
