hello everyone,

i'm Eric and I don't spend near enough time outdoors, so i've
decided to take up hunting.

i live in town and will be going to local WMAs (lloyd, mullins, adair) to pursue squirrels and maybe rabbits.

So now for some questions,
Are any of the mentioned WMAs overused or crowded?

Are any of them better for small game?

Do you wear orange only during mod.gun deer season, or all the time?

If not, do squirrels see color? should one wear camo?

What's the easiest way to dress/skin a squirrel for cooking?

what's the bag limit for squirrels?

figured i'd better start off with the small stuff first,
i'd really like to try turkey hunting at some point.

thanks

Hi Eric--

Welcome to the board and the sport of hunting. I have hunted all three, and the pressure is usually non-existent. All three are good for squirrel, but Adair is best for rabbits. If your after turkey, then I would concentrate on Lloyd and Adair. You will see you share of hunting pressure the first couple weeks of turkey season (on both), but it will wane as the season progresses.

As far as wearing orange -- I wear an orange hat all the time. The limit on squirrels is 6 -- I believe.

Best,
Gary

Cut through the skin at the base of the tail. Cut through the tail bone and start a cut down both hind legs. Place your foot on the tail as close the body as you can get and pull up on the hind legs. The skin will come off, just like pulling a sock off, inside out. Then, pull the skin off the hind legs. You won't get any hair on the meat this way.
