Well dangit! I saw my first buck of the year and let him walk. Later, in the evening hunt, I heard some birds. So......I let out some quiet short yelps and purrs with my mouth diaphram and then just put it away. About 15 minutes later I started hearing movement from two different directions coming at me. I figured they were turkeys because I could hear them do that wierd spitting they sometimes do. I just stayed quiet and about 45 minutes later, I could finally see one of them. Everything went perfect. About 50 yards out I was able to draw when he ducked behind a tree. Then at about 15 yards he dropped his head and I put the pin on him. I could just see him through brush and let loose. He jumped around and pulled the arrow out of the ground and started to stagger off flopping with the arrow hanging out his side, pointing up into the air. I had to sit there 20 foot up in my climber and watch him flop out of site. I could hear a commotion across the dry creek he crossed and so I made my way down out of the tree (yeah earlier I heard some coyotes over there). But he was gone and my arrow still in him. I covered the hillsides but no bird. I even went out the next day and looked more. That's only the second bird I hit with my bow. I was excited as this was a male but no find.
