I have found the Carbon Vision 350 shafts made by Custom Archery Equipment (CAE) to be great shafts. I have only used them one season but I love them. #1 they are a stiff shaft, and I believe as a release shooter the stiffer the better. #2 they are light weight, like most carbons. #3 they are large diameter,350 thousands. About the same diameter as a 2315 Easton. With 4 inch feathers and a strong helical they are easy to tune with a tm hunter style rest and fly great. Rest clearance is my number one factor for using this shaft. With a 100 grain magnus head I'm shooting approx. a 415 grain arrow and with a 125 grain magnus head approx. a 440 grain arrow. I like the heavier arrow myself. I use a Jo-Jan left helical jig and feathers because when using a helical I can't get plastic vanes to stick good enough. I also use the fastset gel glue with the feathers, thats the only combination I could get to work well for me. I amost gave up on carbon shafts until I experimented and found this shaft and set-up to work. I have found small diameter carbon shafts with straight fletching okay for target points or expandable broadheads but need a larger diameter shaft with a strong helical feather for fixed blade broadheads. Hope this info can help someone out there.

Where can thse carbons be purchased with 4" fletching? Do they also come with inserts and uni-nocks? What is the cost?

Try www.huntersfriend.com for your archery needs, he is KY and will fix good carbon arrows by Gold Tip any way you want them.

I've shot Gold Tips for 3 years now. The carbon arrow has had a few "growing pains" but like any "cutting edge technology" product we as a consumer have to bear with them and in the end we will reap the rewards.

Carbon arrows are much tougher and penetrate up to 30% deeper.

I really like the carbon arrows for my compound but I stick to the aluminum for my recurve. Test after test when 3-d shooting with the recurve, I can pick up the arrow without damage but have lost several carbons this way. I use the Beman ICS arrows and may switch to the Gold Tips. Some issues I have had with the Bemans:
1. Upon impact on 3-d targets the insert gets jamed into the arrow
2. Upon impact on 3-d targets, the ring of the insert that sticks out of the arrow gets busted off
3. When parcticing with Mrs. Bowhunter, my carbon was in the target, she shot from a different angle and hit my arrow, it unwrapped the carbon arrow.
4. Missed targets, (Yes they occassionally happen), carbons impacting rock shatter, the aluminums sometimes bend but I have had beeter success with them.

Just my opinion, I'll probably never get away from carbons with my compound. The 292 feet per second and one sight pin are hard to give up. The recurve is alot slower but I have so much more fun using it.

Mr. Bowhunter, I have had great success with the Gold Tip shafts and shoot them in my compound, recurve and stick bow. They have different sizes that fit just about any need you have. I perfer them over the Bemam shafts for the toughness.

I called CAE Custom Archery Equipment yesterday, they said they were working on their web site, must be the reason their e-mail was down too. Web site is www.customarchery.com and e-mail is info@customarchery.com and phone # is 310.212.5500. Gold tip makes the 22-series shafts that are larger diameter than most carbons. Would make them easier to get fletching clearance with a helical fletch.

I have been shooting gold tips for the last 2 years now and I think they are hard to beat for what they cost.I used to shoot bemans which I think are good to,but the the gold tips cost less and shoot just as good.I still use wood arrows with my recurve,I know carbon or aluminum
might be better but I love the looks and feel of a good arrow.
