I have hunted and fished for the better part of 35 years. It hasn't been to long ago that I was first made aware of the L.K.S.. I know the people I generally hunted with through the year's had no idea such a organization existed. I am new to posting on this forum. I have done a little research on the L.K.S.. Anyone feel free to correct any misinformation I might post. From What I understand the League WAS a powerful organization years ago. Anything passed by the commission was brought before the L.K.S. before it reached the commission. The L.K.S. ,lost some of it's stroke when individuals bypassed the L.K.S. and took there concerns straight to frankfort. Now the L.K.S. seems to be like a wounded animal.
It is my belief that the average sportsmen has no idea such a organization exsist.

The simple fact is that the AVERAGE sportsman doesn't know the Commission exists, let alone any outside group trying to see that the concerns of the sportsmen are met, or at make an attempt.

There's no doubt that the League is just a fraction of what it was. The present day leadership knows this and are making slow but steady progress to reverse some of it. There's a million excuses a man can make to stay away from the political side of the sport, but it only takes one for a guy to get in there and help when he can.

As for making a difference in Frankfort, I believe we can. I also think we have. Any gain, even if small, is good for the sportsmen as a whole.

Size does matter!

I agree a small gain is is worth the time. No excuses, you have to know it exsist before you can get involved politically.

Hunting is becoming a lost art! A Rifle/Bow/Muzzleloader/ and a sack of corn does not make a Deer Hunter!

I agree with most of what you are saying DW. The League is trying to rebuild. I saw you list you were in central KY. Most of central KY falls withing the 6th District. Would be glad to invite you to the LKS Federation meetings.

DW, in my opinion you hit the nail on the head. When some people went around the league it was for personal gain. You know what that does to any organization. Hopefully with this group of directors and member such as yourself we can straighten thing out. For this to happen the hunters must stay together and insist the dept. work for the betterment of hunters.

Setters do it better.

Welcome DW! There's a few folks committed to putting teeth back into the mouth of the LOKS. As multi stated the sad part is that few sportsmen really understand how their sport is affected by the commission, dept. etc.

Often times opinions are sought and no one responds and on the flip side opinions are given and not heard.

It's up to responsible, credible and well spoken sportsmen to let their concerns as well as praises be heard where they can do some good.
