Where are some places, in or around Warren Co., to get your deer meat processed?

You may check with Kirby/Poe slaughter house out hwy 231, I'm not sure if they process deer though.

I take mine to a Amish butcher in Allen Co. He's located on Strawberry Lane about a half mile past Hinton Border Collies farm (right across from the Amish school). There's signs starting on Scottsville Rd. (between BG and Scottsville) that direct you to Hinton's farm, so it's not that hard to find. They charge me $45 to skin and grind meat (except tenderloin, of course!) and will even add sausage seasoning to part of it if you want. For $55, they can make something they call "Sweet Lebanon Bologna" that is fantastic! I took one deer to them last year during gun season and he told me they had smoked 1600 lbs of the bologna that week!

I've taken deer after dark but not really late....I hunt about a mile from them. They're very friendly folks and I'm sure they probably get a lot of after dark business, especially during muzzelloading and gun seasons.

There's nobody ever open commercially when I kill mine which seems to always be on a Saturday night or a holiday, lol!

Do they have a phone or do you just have to take a chance and drive by during the early season like now? I really would like somewhere to take one when it's warm out. I'll do my own if its cool enough I can hang it for a day or so out side

Sorry to take so long to reply skin_dog1....
They don't have phones....they are the horse-and-buggy Amish folks. If the men aren't around there's always someone at the house who will take your deer. Just make sure you have your confirmation number as they will ask for it.

Don't most of you guys do like me and grab a skinning knife, a pan of water, slit the ligaments (leeters for you old folks), hang the deer on a single-tree and go to town? It takes less than 30 minutes to skin and quarter a deer and you know where it has been and for how long.

I found the sign for hintons off scottsville road, but couldn't find their place or the amish place. When I turn right off scottsville rd, go to the stop sign go right. Where to then? I assume I go right cause left takes me right back to scottsville road. This place is real close to my house, so for $45 I'll take deer I kill late to them. I plan on starting to do it all myself, but in the meantime....

Seriously? I make a slit between the back leg bone and the ligaments to hang my deer from. I used to stick an old mop handle through both legs, until I ran across an old single tree. I find it much easier to skin from the butt down, than vice versa, so I hang the deer head down instead of head up.

when you hang them from the single tree by the back legs and cut around them....DO NOT CUT THE TENDON WHERE THE GAMBREL COMES THROUGH....be extra careful because that is what is holding it up
take nothing but trophies.....leave nothing but gutpiles
