Went to the Deer Classic @ Greenville yesterday and was surprised 2c no booth for the LKS. What a great opportunity for recruitment of new members missed. Just curious as to why?

I agree that it's something that the LKS should consider doing to promote new members and clubs from the different areas served by these shows. I'll that the 4th brings this to the table at the next meeing.

The LKS is not a "know all, see all" organization. Neither does it have a paid staff to attend all functions. So, Turk, if you are a member of the LKS, did you offer to attend and work an exhibit? Did you make the LKS director or federation officers in your area aware of the show? I not getting down on you at all. I'm just pointing out that the LKS needs your memembership, your knowledge and your volunteered time and effort. In other words, don't say "you guys", say "we".

I agree with what you say Mike, but the LKS needs to enable it first. Spend the money on a booth and materials to man the booth, then get the Federations to find the manpower. I'm sure Turk would help as he's ready to get involved. Normally, HOG has LKS info in his HS booth but he didn't make it either. I think it's time to get in gear and do something different.

We already have, (or at least use to have), a booth with LKS logo and info. Bob Smith use to take it to events when he was President of LKS. Since I've just now gotten re-involved with the leadership of the League, I do not know where it is currently located. Perhaps with Phil McFaddin. If not, maybe someone more current than I can advise.

Ksp965, point noted! I started to ask a few weeks ago and got sidetracked on this board and 4got. Would have gladly manned a booth. I never fail to mention the LKS TO hunters when im around them! Strenght in numbers, louder voices in numbers. Any show such as this one WE ought to @least try to have a info booth. Plenty of time to prepare for next years expo or any event. Perhaps some brochures to send to each DU & Turkey banquit? Fit nicely @ a table setting that already has coupons of hunting related items! Just Idea's.

Gentlemen, sounds like we missed a great opportunity to recruit new members. Hopefully during our next board meeting we will have time to look at and discuss such matters and set an agenda concerning what and where we need to attend. Along with who will man these events. And yes Phil does have the booth. If anyone has suggestion on what events we need to attend and locations please share them with us.

I agree turk. For years the UBK has had an absolute jewel of a feller who does shows for us. Dave Wix has done shows and probably recruited more members for the UBK than anyone could imagine.
We need to look at this in a serious manner. We need to make sure that this will be done in a manner that will not cost anyone out of pocket who will man a booth.
These shows are a heck of a lot more work than anyone could imagine unless you've been there.
Multi did have brochures on how to join Cyberhunters in his booth.

I understand Extreme. I would be glad to help man a booth. Just let me know when. Since i have to work 5 out of every 6 Saturdays, makes it tuff to join most everyone else @ shows. Im was a co-founder of Audubon Area Longbeards in 93 so i know of the troubles getting help and the time involved in getting things from the ought to do stage to the done stage! If anything comes up here in Western Ky we could attend, i'll alert!

10-4 on that. Turks ready to step up and we need more of guys like that.
Ronnie, we need to at least do the Strader show and the Deer Classic, and probably the Louisville Boat Show, the Elk Fest and Hunter's for the Hungry Cookoff. I'm sure there are others, and we could try and come up with 9 events and assign one to each District to man coverage. They could get coverage from other districts, but it would be their assigned responsibility to do so?

We need to address this at the next meeting. I have no problems with it. The only draw back that I can see is, we would get individual members and we really need new clubs or members joining existing clubs. Because of representation. What do you think.

Individuals are better than nothing. We get individuals and they lead us to clubs. Everybody is in something. We find out what and make a sales call. If we don't know the clubs in our districts, how can we sign them up????

The 3rd District Federation has always had a booth at the Strader Show and they have always had a booth at the Wild Game Cookoff. The "Third Herd" are grass roots involved.
