I'm not familiar with the T5820..........we use 6300. They claim they will reach 2 miles & I think they will. These are the 2nd set we've bought, used to use the 250. I think the radios will do excactly what Motorola advertises from my experience with them.

I sure do like to call my buddy & say "Bring the truck around...."

I ALSO USE THE 6300. WHEN HUNTING WITH A FRIEND THEY ARE AWESOME TO HAVE. THEY WILL REACH THE 2 MILE RANGE. ALTHOUGH WE USUALLY HUNT WITHIN 500 YARDS. IF WE SEE DEER MOVING IN THE OTHERS DIRECTION WE MAKE SURE TO COMMUNICATE. THEY ARE ALSO GREAT TO CALL YOUR BUDDY AT DARK AND TELL HIM THAT YOU NEED HELP PULLING OUT A NICE 10 POINTER. I LIKE THEM FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT AS WELL. I HUNT WITH MY GRANDFATHER SOME, IF FOR SOME REASON HE SHOULD HAVE A HEARTATTACK, ETC. IF YOU HUNT A LOT WITH YOUR BUDDIES THEY ARE A GREAT INVESTMENT.

I'd rather be huntin....

Speaking about radios, most people don't know that if you have one on you and get a record book buck P&Y and B&C will NOT accept the buck for their books. It's got something to do with their "fair chase" rules, like the 65% let off. Don't jump on me, I'm just reporting on what I read in their rules, it's in there in black and white. A couple years ago my friend shot a 190 class buck and B&C would not take the buck for their book because he used a radio with his friend while they were hunting. The idea is if several people were using radios to make a drive and moved the drivers or hunters around for a shot by a buck trying to get away then it falls under their "fair chase" rules.

That makes a lot of sense there Wildcat. I have used a radio in the past just to let my buddy know if I'm moving to another location. We used them during a hog hunt in southern Kentucky also. We stopped using them during deer season because of the sound they make. Not sure what model we had though.

Again I'm probably wrong and might be thinking of another state but isn't it illegal to use radio's while hunting ecspecially to tell your buddy where you are. It was my impression that if you had a cell phone or radio with you it was to be turned off unless in need of emergency.

I like to have my cell phone with me in the woods so I can check scores and stock tickers. Plus, you never know when someone from the office might need to get in touch with you.

Good Lord, even though I was joking it hurt to type that :)

in OHIO it is indeed ILLEGAL to have a radio on you while deer hunting...MYSELF think this is silly...but its the law..
we carry them but usually report to each other after dark so we know if we should head out or meet each other...
heres the thing that gets me but in OHIO you can use /carry a cell for emergencies dont most of them act as a 2 way these days

Evidently the law has changed regarding radios in Ky. I had 2 friends get cited about ten or eleven years ago for carrying them. My wife and I carry them nowadays for safety only.

We just bought a pair of Motorola T5820s, haven't had a chance to use them huntin' yet. I think we're gonna like them just for keeping track of each other.
