Well i almost earned myself a stay in the crossbar motel last night. I got pulled over in Jessamine county doing 28 over. Ive never been pulled over before and i knew that if I was going 25+ over, that i could go to jail so needless to say my heart was thumpin pretty hard. Cop told me that i was lucky that he is only giving me a ticket and not taking me in, but at first i was thinkin, yeah right he is just saying that to try and scare me, but i got to thinking about it and while he had me pulled over, there were a total of 5 cops that came to the scene. 3 of which flipped their lights and the other 2 just stopped a short distance away and then drove off. So i feel like i am pretty lucky that i wasnt in cuffs. But unfortunatly i have to be in court on the 14th of October. The only reason that i was going so fast was it was 12:30 at night, only 1 other car on the road, and they were behind me, and i didnt realize that the road i was on was only 55. Still if i was on a highway id be doing 13 over. Im just really frustrated with myself for not paying attention to how fast i was going and to the speed limit on the road. Oh well, its a life lesson i guess. Any of you guys have any stories about being pulled over?

Yes, but if you had been in a school zone, you would have been 55+ over. ;)
Hope to get a judge that is not having a bad day. You can still lose your license for reckless driving for anything above 15 mph over.
I was pulled over for 20 over in a 55 once while trying to make it back to town from work on the day that my license was to expire. Fairly ironic that I got a speeding ticket trying to renew a license on the day it was to lapse. The trooper did take a bit of pity on me and wrote it for 15 over so I at least wouldn't lose my license.
trust me

Bet they got you on the N-ville bypass...
Your clean record should keep your license for you. If you were chronic, it would be a lot worse.
The multiple cruisers doesn't mean you were going to jail. Cops have each others back because they never know when a late-night traffic stop could become something much worse. 3 of them pulled me over for a burned-out headlight one time. At first i thought I must've killed someone.
Good luck.

No License, no insureance, no helmet, eluding an officer. 19 years old. $547.50. I paid every red cent of it too while making $3.17 per hour. Lesson learned, I should have drove faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL:Doh, I forgot the no registration!!!!!!!!!!

If you go and politely plead not guilty they will likely offer you a reduced charge for a guilty plea. Especially with a clean record. If you had a dirty record, I would suggest getting an attorney who regularly does business at the courthouse in question and let him politely plead not guilty for you.
Take the deal.
Knock on wood I haven't had a ticket in over 10 years now. Part of the reason is being older, eyes not what they were (especially at night), and fuel prices being high. I'm just not in that big a hurry anymore. Set the cruise to between legal and 7 over and let er ride.
I'm surprised by the number of folks who will go back and forth from 5 under to 15 over when the cruise control will take the risk out of it and the average travel speed would be just as good. Seems foolish to me.

I was involved in an accident when I was 14 years old with no license. I was working on a farm and the sprayer broke down. I was driving back to the house to get the necessary tools when a guy came around the bend too fast (my story at least :o) and we swapped paint and fenders.
Even though it wasn't really my fault, I got stuck footing the entire bill because of my age. Since I was underage, I didn't have insurance. I worked that entire summer for absolutely nothing, and had to mow about another 30 lawns the following fall to pay everything off. :(

when i was a kid living at home, i rode my motorcycle, dirt bike, to the end of the driveway to check the mail, thats what i did everyday. ksp saw me and pulled over, slid right up to the mailbox, almost ran over me, threw gravel all over me. scared me pretty bad, i thought he was wrecking.
he jumps out, screaming to turn off the bike, get off the bike, put my hands on the hood of his cruiser. well i turned off the bike, and then told him it didn't have a kick stand, so i can't get off it. he said to lay it on the ground, i refused to do that. he then told me to take off my helmet, well the way he was acting i wasn't about to, so i ignored that request. he then asked if i had a DL. i said yes reached it to him. he then wanted my ins. card, i said this is a dirtbike i have no insurance. he then said he will have my bike towed. he went to his car, and when he came back he handed me several tickets.
no motorcyle operators license
no registration/tags
no insurance
no helmet
no eye protection
no horn
no headlight
no turn signals
no tailight
no brake light
no rearview mirror
improper silencer
faulty equipment
wreckless driving
driving on a public road
notice, i was wearing a helmet, i rode in the grass, and never got on the road, and yes i had a motorcycle operators license.
well, my parents and other family saw the whole thing, and went to court with me. the judge read the tickets and asked guilty or not. i then told him what happend and he threw it out and appoligized to us. i was affraid of the police for years.

I live in Jessamine county , when you goto court the County attorney is Brian Goethl . They will have you go in a room talk to them before court, he will offer you a plea agreement . More than likely traffic school , and the same fine you would have paid with the ticket . But no points on your license . I would take it . I have dealt with them before on things traffic related . It is all about getting the all mighty dollar . And by the way going that fast anywhere in jessamine county is suicide . Nicholasville has 70 full time officers , and the JCSD has 20 and US-27 until you hit the river is infested with cops . I live right off 27 and you can see cops all day pulling people over . Good Luck !!

I got locked up for going 28 over in meade county several years ago. A few hundred bucks for a attorney and I ended up with traffic school out of it.

I agree with this got caught myself 68 mph on my way turkey hunting 4:00 AM when I lived in Nicholasville years ago......once you hit that bypass over the river you better keep it about 57 until you get past Nicholasville. If its your first you should be able to get traffic school online and pay a BIG fine............

I once got a speeding ticket while speeding on the way to the store to get there before they closed. I was going to buy a radar detector.

The worse that could happen is you might loose your license for 90 days.
The judge wont suspend your license. Only DOT can do that.
The judge will ask you if you would like to go to driving school, if you choose the school, the court will drop the fine, you still have to pay court cost.
I've probably recieved more speeding tickets than everyone here combined.
2 years ago, 2 days before Christmas, I was clocked at 167 mph on the wk parkway in Grayson county. I am glad the trooper didnt check the max speed on my GPS.
Long story short, I lost my license for 6 months and spent 90 days in jail.
Good luck in court.

I'm not sure I'd own up to driving that fast. That's pretty stupid and you were endangering everyone on the road...but I'm not here to judge you today. I would imagine you've learned your lesson and don't do that anymore. Just my two cents.

Sure it was a stupid move, there was no traffic between me and the next exit.
The bike will do over 200 mph in less than a mile.
And yes, I've learned my lesson.
I am thinkin about tradin it for a bass boat.:D

17 years old & dumber than a bag of rocks doin' 20+ over the speed limit thru the middle of Jackson, KY many years ago....
Yes sir! No sir! I'm sorry sir!!!
Managed to get away with a good long talking to & a police officer who proceeded to follow me thru town every time I drove for the next 3-4 months & would even pull in behind me in parking lots to remind me to not ever EVER do that again!

Now I know we are all one big equal family regardless of any possible differences that might exist.....BUT
I'm here to tell you the rules of the road are completely different for women than they are for men.
Just in case you hadn't figured that out.

I heard that it was 205 in a Porsche 967 with a quart of Jim Beam between your legs and a blond on your lap.
JK pal. Just trying to give you some street cred.
How's it been going? Tough summer for me. Sick parents. It is what it is. Probably ought to have lunch sometime.

The first ticket I ever got was for 78 in a 55..He wrote me up for traffic school. State trooper, older guy and was real cool about it. I had just gotten thru playing basketball and was on my way home..I was so tore up I pulled over on the wrong side of the road  :D He ask me if i was drinking and I said "yea, gatorade" serious as a hearattack..He got a kick out of it because my hand was shaking when I held up the lemon-lime gatorade :D...
I got my second ticket for 62 in a 55  That ticket went away but do you know the Feds knew about it during my hire-in background check..They called me on it :o They asked me how I got it threw away and I honestly answered..A friend of mine that also worked for the state was at my house picked up the ticket and said Im taking this..Next thing I knew the trooper had "faulty radar".. I knew if I hadnt told the truth they would not have hired me..They knew what happened, they just wanted to see if Id own up to it..

Did you tell him " Thank You officer, I'm glad to see the system works" ?
yes i did. i think he might have taken it as smart-alec cause i told him, "i appreciate you doing your job officer" as he was walking away. i watched him in my side view mirror and he didnt even flinch. i know that he heard me though because i made sure i said it loud enough so that he could hear me.
Yes sir! No sir! I'm sorry sir!!!
trust me, ive never said sir so many time in my life! as soon as he told me how fast he clocked me at, i was willing to let him search my car if it would keep me out of jail. i know that im probably going to catch some flack for that on here, but i dont care. i had absolutely nothing to hide, and if it keeps me out of the big house, i woulda been completely okay with it!
US 27 between the Fayette Co. line and and Camp Nelson is probably the worst spot to speed in the area. Hwy 127 between Danville and Frankfort is also a good spot to get a ticket.
I have only had one ticket in my life, which is amazing considering how much I drive and what type of cars and bikes I have owned.
We were on a Pheasant hunting trip in Nebraska in Nov of 95. I was actually just leaving to come back home. It was all rural, long, flat roads with few if any houses and NO traffic. I think I was doing 83 in a 55. I looked off to the right, probably about 3/4 of a mile away and I saw a white car. I didn't think anything of it, but I should have.:D The cop didn't have a radar gun, he timed me between 2 points to get my speed. It was dead on.
I was honest with him. I told him I was in a hurry to get the hell out of there and make it back in time for Thanksgiving dinner. Plus I was sick and we didn't get on any birds that morning. He cut me a break on my speed, and gave me a ticket. Fair enough.
