A life of fun! The League is great very interested in the kids getting them outdoors helping them with understanding conservation and also showing them a great time. Its very dedicated to helping with the KDFWR and helping out with wildlife. Theres a lot more they do that you can get into just talk to Ronnie Wells (Birdman)- President of the League of Kentucky Sportsmen or Rick Allen (GSP)- Vice President of the League of Kentucky Sportsmen.

I sent my $6 dollar membership fee in some time ago due to the BBBC. Is this a once a year fee?

Birdman

Once a year. Glad to have you aboard.

Turky Hunter5, I would be glad to explan what the main purpose of the league is. It would be better if we talked on the phone or in person. I'll be glad to call, just give me a number.

When and where is the next meeting?

ladybug:

The state is divided up in 9 District Federations which all have their meetings at different intervals. I think most Districts have 2-6 meetings/yr at the same time one of the Sportsman Clubs in the District is also meeting. Each district is about 15 Counties.

Each District Director attends approximately 4-6 LKS Board meetings/yr at various locations.

The LKS annual Convention was just held in Paducah. It is in Louisville June 2006.

Hope this helps.

When you join do you recieve any type of correspondence or confirmation? Seems like several organizations I belong to are members and I also joined through BBBC but haven't recieved anything confirming my membership.

I am a Life Member of LKS, but have NEVER been approached by, or made aware of any local groups affiliated with LKS in the 29 years of living in Bardstown even though I actively hunt and know several other local hunters, none of whom have ever indicated any knowledge of any local clubs. Yet, when I see the LKS newspaper, there seems to be references occasionally to clubs nearby. How does one become aware of any local clubs and their activities? Don't they want new members?

I want to think Bardstown is in the 6th distrtict. If so here's a list of clubs in the 6th.

Blue Grass Sportsmen's League
Anderson Co Sportsmen's Club
Double Eagle Chapter NWTF
Central Ky. Coonhunters Assoc.
Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club Inc.
Powell Co. Sportsman Club
6th district Fur Takers
Brotherhood of Free Trappers

There maybe a few new clubs, this list is from last year.

I've been to some meetings and even though I don't understand all of the business at hand I would like to become a member, (if my husband hasn't already made me a member) And if I can't become a member or do not wish to do so, may I still make contributions for the cause? If I can just make contributions, how do I do so?

Isn't it a shame that I talk to the my wife on a discussion forum.

You should be a member from where I signed you up at the meeting for the new Central Ky. Chapter of Ky. Grouse Hunters. I guess a.k.a. grousehunter has not submitted paper work yet. Next time I talk to him or GSP I'll ask.
Your right on one thing, going to meetings is the first step to having input.

I'm also glad to see your interest in what's going on by being a member of this forum.

Between being on here, and expert advice from all the members you know, will have you busy. :D
