Soaked them in peroxide for a couple hours, the longer you leave them in there the whiter they will get. You only submerge the bone leaving the spur cap out of the liquid. I used a rectangle shaped tupaware dish and leaned the spurs against the sides so the leg bone was all that was in the peroxide. Another thing you have to watch is the longer you leave them in there the color will fade from spurs. I left mine so long I had to paint them black, but it made the bone look nice.

You can actually boil the spurs in water for about 5 min. and pull that spur sheath off. Then you can clean all that junk off, drop in the peroxide without worrying about bleaching the sheath. When it is white enough for you, pull out and dry off. Drop a drop of superglue in sheath and reattach to the correct spur core. Test fit before you glue...;)

Nice project, by the way...

Nice! I got a feather for mine too, just ain't put it in yet. I think I will wear it hunting this weekend. It will make for a cool harvest photo if I kill anything.
