Just got back....got sunburned a bit but had good time. First photo is a few of those Green River Bass Boats ready to make a pass....:D...Serious these are some of the 11 second 1/4 mile class most run in the range of 100 to 106 mph. Some hot hot outboards on these.

Second photo is of a friend Ron's boat, it goes a bit faster...:D.. 6 second passes in the 170 to 180 mph range. His best today was a 6.03 second pass at 172 mph. Your looking at over 650 hp alcohol fuel burning jet drive.... rocket. A bit to fast to fish from....:D

What kind of times did the pontoon turn in?

I think a certain former member here had a 300 on a pontoon, with a modification to the stickers.:D

20 minutes......:D....

The one in the picture is the starters platform and the boat closest to each side go against each other., they have a couple special pontoon's that go to each meet tho. One is a recovery boat that can lift one of those drag boats off the bottom if sunk another is a driver rescue pontoon that has a lift on the front that they can drive right up to a driver is in the water and scoop him/her up and can move out if necessary. If you have never seen these drag boats run before it is a sight to see.

Is that boat a jet or v drive. Looks like the engine is in it backwards and most of the really fast boats ar hydros instead of jets. I have a couple of friends that run them. I'm pretty sure they were there too. I used to build the motors for one of them and still help out on the other's from time to time. Those guys are crazy...--Mike Ezell

To be honest I didn't walk all the way around Ron's boat so I can't for sure say what type drive it has now...I do know the last time I was at Thunder on the Green his boat was a Jet drive. We just chatted a few minutes by his truck Sunday as they were getting ready to head for the put in ramp about the time I found him. I do know it is a flat bottom boat and not much in the water at that speed. I walked up to the put in ramp and took that picture. He did tell me he had a new Keith Black engine in it that cost him 70 grand. Got to love getting scared to death to spend that kind of money on a engine IMO.
