I know this is very late notice, but I just got confirmation myself last night.

The 8th District Federation will have their quarterly meeting TONIGHT (7/21/04) at the Trinity Fish & Game Club in Lewis County at 7:00pm, which will be a joint meeting with the Federation and Trinity F & G.

The 8th District covers sportsmen in the following counties of northeastern KY:

Bath, Bourbon, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Nicholas, Rowan, Wolfe

All are invited to attend, and I'll post anything interesting that may come out of this meeting for those unable to attend given the late notice. Also, I'll check this site before I leave for the meeting, and anyone with an issue/comment that you would like addressed, please post it to this thread and I'll bring it up during the meeting.

Report from the 8th District Federation meeting, July 21st @ Trinity F & G in Lewis County:

Good attendance with about 50 present representing Trinity F & G, Greenup Co Bowhunters, Northeast KY F & G, KY Grouse Hunters, and KDFWR (Mike Gilliam & Bill Jolly, CO's that are retiring at month end and Wes Maddix, PLB). Highlight of the evening was the meal...I have to give a big "thumbs up" to the Trinity Ladies, they put out a full blown meal with all the trimmings that was delicious.

After reports from all represented organizations, we reported on the events of the LKS convention and talked at length to the Trinity folks about becoming more active and sending delegates to next years convention, and there appeared to be considerable interest.

The Trinity F & G club will likely be developing a resolution to expand youth turkey days. Obviously this club is strong on youth events and spoke to Federation President, Mike Mefford, about starting a "squirrel rifle" program at Trintiy.

Trinity also voted to host a "retirement party" at next months meeting for Mike Gilliam and Bill Jolly in appreciation for their years of service to their area. It was a very nice gesture that was well received and a pleasant suprise for the officers.

I thought the meeting was productive and should result in a more active club, statewide, for our Federation.

The next 8th District Federation meeting was tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 21st at Northeast KY Fish & Game in Boyd Co, assuming no scheduling conflicts with their facility.
