Tom Threetoes

I have seen two different gobblers strutting in the last three days. One group was mixed gobblers and hens the other was just hens with the one tom. Were they just showing their dominance or could some toms still be ready to mate if they found a ready hen?

Tho either one is possible, im hedgeing my bets that it's a pecking order thing. Or perhaps just for the sheer heck of it! Practice[;)]

Toms will puff up year 'round, although obviously not as much as they do in late winter and spring. And if you're out this fall and think you're hearing things, that probably WAS a gobble you heard. Why they do it, I have no clue. They're turkeys, you know.

I heard two birds gobble back and forth while bowhunting in Janaury.
