This is not your typical classified ad looking to get $ for a cast-off.

I am a dedicated foot hunting, thick cover grouse hunter and I have a young dog that needs a different type situation to shine. If any of you are open country quail hunters or field trailers (or know someone who is) pay close attention.

I have an eight month old (born 2-27-02) male english setter who has pointed and held his own wild ruffed grouse at 7 months old in northern Wisconsin. He is out of top grouse dogs (both sire and dam on premises) and the pedigree can be faxed to anyone interested. This pup is big running and bold with a lot of point. High head and tail w/style, and would "naturally" honor his litter-mates on sight points at 3 months old. This pup should mature into a solid 60+ lb dog with plenty of legs. He is black and white with a black head w/blaze, medium ticking and no large spots on his body. IMHO, he is the most beautiful setter that I have ever raised.

I have two litter-mates to this dog who, quite frankly, are making better grouse prospects, which is why I'm offering this dog to the "right" person for him to achieve his potential. Price will not be the primary consideration in placing this pup, as I have raised him from birth and spent considerable time with him, and truly want to give him the proper opportunity.

If interested, post here on how to contact you or email me. The pup and parents can be viewed most evenings and/or shown in the field most weekends.

I am interested in the setter! I would like to know a little more about the price range. My wife's grandfather's both had black and white setters, she loves the way they look.I am an avid bird hunter and a former bird dog owner and very interested in owning another dog.I hunt open terrain and also would field trial this dog or let my uncle take him to the field trials. Please let me know either way, thank you and God Bless!!

CLB, thanks for the inquiry, but I had a fellow come to watch the dog work yesterday (12/1/02) and he bought him on the spot.

If interested, I have another english setter male pup that is eight months old (born 3/12/02). He has not matured as fast as the pups mentioned above and therefore, doesn't have the experience of the others, but also doesn't have the price tag. He is black and white (solid black head and ears, with one small black spot at the base of his tail, and medium ticking), and has a good affectionate personality.

I got him as a pick-of-the-litter, stud fee puppy, so he is a half brother to the pup mentioned above. His mother is a solid grouse dog that I have hunted with several times, and I own his father and would be happy to show him in the field any weekend.

The only problem with this pup is I had him at the same time as his older half brothers and he hasn't been hunted yet. He shows a stylish "sight" point on a grouse wing and will retrieve a tennis ball, but has not been introduced to live game yet.
