I have a little boy that will soon turn 6, i was looking at the rossi .22- 410 combo. what is everyones thought on this weapon? do you think a 410 is good to start hunting with? i know it is not as foregiving as a 20 or 12 gague with shot placement. and then there is the cost of the 410 shells to think about also.
so i need some input here guys the rossi .22-.410 combo that is $127.00 or a crickett .22 that is $117.00
and he is kindof small framed, i think it will be quite awhile before he could move up to a .20 gage. thanks it advance. eric

I got my 6 y.o. stepson the 22/20 Rossi combo, simply because of the shell prices, he is a very small framed child, use a low brass, high shot# and he should be fine.
I have the 22/.410 Rossi, and it does good. Both my boys started on it. And it's really light, I often carry the little .410 on fishing or scouting trips as a "snake" gun. If you think he can handle a 20 gauge though, that would be the better choice because of the range and shell prices.

I bought the "Cricket" for both of my kids....
It is a very accurate rifle....
My daughter who is 7 now shot her 1st squirrel with it when she was 5.
The peep sight takes some getting used to. The apperature is pretty large.
But once you teach them how the sight picture is supposed to look they can nail what they are aiming at. My 5 year old son just loves burning thru the 22's on it also....
After a while I can mount a scope on it for them....
I have not done so yet, I do not want them to only know how to shoot thru a scope...
I am now in the market for a Rossi 20/243 set up for deer.
good luck
