I have a Remington 1100 lt-20 that my dad got me when I started hunting so it is at least 30 years old. It was the only gun I had for several years so it has seen a lot of use. I have been having a problem lately with the shells jamming under the bolt when they come out of the magazine during cycling. They will sometimes even spring out of the magazine tube and jam when I am loading it. It does not happen all the time, but it is a pain since the only way I have been able to clear it is to take the magazine cap off and remove the magazine spring. Anybody got an idea?

Pull the trigger assm and spray some PB blaster in it the trigger and the reciever take the stock off and clean you bolt spring it may not be opening enough to get the follower to release the shells out of the mag tube. the use a air compressor to blow it out and spray some rem oil in it .

while you are working on it, get a new o ring, 30 years is a long time.

Thats the 1100 for you. I have one that always did the same thing. The magazines needed to be stainless or something. No matter if it's cleaned I could never trust it.

My dad has an old 1100 I know he's had over 30 years. Suffice it to say it's been shot a ton. It started jamming the same way several years back. He's cleaned it relentlessly and had two different gun smiths go through it. Still jams as bad as ever. He finally broke down and bought a new 11-87 ( I think he was looking for a good reason anyway) :D.........

I shoot 1100's and 11-87's a lot. I use an 1100 at clay sports game shooting volume, so I put 30 years of normal use on in a hurry.

The cool thing about these is that IF you actually wear something out, you can get parts easily enough and they are very easy to work on.

You can pull up diagrams online of the parts and should be able to get what you need.
