Does anybody on here reload. I am looking at a slightly used MEC steelmaster and i was wondering If thats a good starter piece. I have read that MECs are good loaders. I am interested in loading steel and lead. Any advice would be appreciated very much.:)

Mec is a good loader. I have a 9000g which is a progressive. I have loaded 20,000+ shells. Very reliable. I do not know anything about the Steelmaster, but Mec stands behind their products and parts are very easy to get.

I have used a mec 600 jr for years.Never had the first problem with it.Load mostly 12g but switch it out for 20g sometimes.I have never used the steelmaster either but mec is great equipment.I bought alot of my bushings and charge bars on ebay.Plenty of parts for them on there. My advice would be to buy a good updated loading manual.Whatever powder you choose will have a guide-stick to this guide.Buy a scale and weigh the charge every so often to make sure its acurate. You shouldnt have any problems.

Got the loader today. Its a great looking piece. The guy was super nice and he had all the stuff that originally came with it. He also gave me some wads and other 12 gauge stuff.

Here is a page from which you can download (http://www.mecreloaders.com/OwnerManuals/OwnerManuals.asp) the manual and other info for your reloader.

There are differences is certain loader parts and shell components depending upon whether you load steel or lead shot. For one the shot charge bars for each type of shot are NOT interchangeable.
