Anti-Gun Blacklist Bill Introduced in U.S. House Friday, May 15, 2009 Rumor was enough to get you burned as a witch in Salem, Massachusetts. It was enough to get you shot in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. It's enough to get your head chopped off in parts of Iraq infested with madmen claiming to carry out Allah's will.
And if U.S. Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) has his way, it may be enough to prohibit you from acquiring a firearm or federal firearm license, especially if the Attorney General is as opposed to gun ownership as Janet Reno was during the Clinton Administration, and as Eric Holder is today.
Fresh on the heels of a disturbing paper from the Department of Homeland Security, characterizing gun owners as rightwing extremists, on April 29 King introduced H.R. 2159, which he calls the "Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009."
King, the ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, describes himself as "a strong supporter of the war against international terrorism, both at home and abroad," so without reading the bill one might assume that H.R. 2159 is a legitimate effort to clamp down on genuine terrorists. However, King and his bill's co-sponsors—Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), Mike Castle (R-Del.), Jim Moran (D-Va.), Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), Mark Kirk (D-Ill.), and Chris Smith (R-N.J.)1—are extreme gun control supporters, and his bill is intended only to give the Executive Branch arbitrary, unaccountable power to stop loyal Americans from acquiring firearms. Here's how:
H.R. 2159 would give "the Attorney General the authority to deny the sale, delivery, or transfer of a firearm or the issuance of a firearms or explosives license or permit to dangerous terrorists. . . . if the Attorney General determines that the transferee is known (or appropriately suspected) to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism, or providing material support thereof, and the Attorney General has a reasonable belief that the prospective transferee may use a firearm in connection with terrorism."

H.R. 2159 does not, however, impose any requirements or limits on the information the Attorney General could use to make a determination, and it proposes that "any information which the Attorney General relied on for this determination may be withheld from the applicant if the Attorney General determines that disclosure of the information would likely compromise national security."
In stark contrast to the scheme proposed in H.R. 2159, federal law establishes guidelines for the nine categories of persons currently prohibited from possessing firearms, and it protects the right of a person to be told why he is prohibited. The latter is important because a person who is not prohibited can be mistaken for someone who is, due to incomplete or incorrect records in the FBI's database of prohibited persons, or due to being mistaken for a prohibited person on the basis of a similar name or other personal information.
The trash bin of history is full of politically-motivated, authoritarian abuses of peoples' rights. As King and his bill's co-sponsors have shown, however, the concept behind the evil yet remains.

If anything introducing bills like this is making gun owners into right wing extremists. Its almost like they want some kind of uprising to happen or they are testing the water to see how far they can push before the american people push back.

Their fear of honest law abiding citizens (all the while working FOR Illegal aliens) should tell us all "something" IMO

This does not sound good.

Unless it is Jesus himself, giving excessive power and discretion to any executive officer is a mistake. Everyone else is far too prone to give in to evil.

This just shows how corrupt many republicans are, many are as low down as the democraps. I'm ready to see a complete house-cleaning in DC.

They can pass all the gun control measures they want but they WILL NOT get my guns unless they are willing to face my wrath and pry them from my cold, dead hands.

I have this feeling that something terrible is gong to happen, in this country, very soon.

From the Declaration of Independence.....

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

The current administration and Congress need to tread lightly and forget about gun control. The mass sales of guns and ammo should be a sign but I'm afraid they will miss that sign.

Dark times ahead I'm afraid. Hope they wisen up.

This event will be HUGE!! Contact Skip Coryell, founder of this event at skipcoryell@hotmail.com for details. :D

What is really needed is to repeal all the various Gun Control laws, starting with the GCA of 1968. NONE of these has done any good as the criminals are still able to get their weapons of choice without any trouble. These "Gun Laws" are costing taxpayers many $$$ each and every year while they do nothing but make it hard on law abiding citizens to own firearms.

I totally agree with you. NO gun laws keep the criminals from getting guns. It is the taxpayers' money, but those in power seem to forget that and spend it, foolishly! The country of Switzerland has the right idea regarding guns. Every household gets them, which keeps their citizens from being attacked. Also keeps them out of wars. They must be doing something right, IMHO.

Thanks! I personally, as well as many other gunowners & Sportsmen & Women; would like to once again to just be able to buy a .22 Sporter or shotgun or even a Deer rifle through the mail and have it delivered to our home, without going through the Gov. "Redtape" & Rip-off Transfer fees. This going through background checks, filling out that silly ATF form, with it's silly questions, does NOTHING to prevent criminals from getting guns to commit crimes. The Criminals are going to get them anyway they can!!

In NJ, you need to apply (including fingerprints and multiple background checks) for a FPID (Firearms Purchase ID) AND/OR permits for ANY handgun (including BB gun) you want to purchase. Takes weeks or a couple of months to get approved, depending on what you applied for. Applications go through your local PD, State PD and prints are filed with the FBI!! Yep, I have a file for about 26 yrs, now. Had to update my FPID due to name and address change because, as of about 8 yrs ago, must match your DL. Used to be when you bought ammo, you just had to show your ID, NOW they have to take data off it and log it in, which includes what you bought and how much. Big brother knows what I have, where and when, I got it. I can safely say that NO criminal has ever, or will ever, abide by this stupid system.

I know how bad it is in the East. I had a cousin that lived in New York, and he once told me what one had to go through to buy a gun. I remember back in 1967; I ordered a Winchester Rifle from a gunshop in New York. All I had to do is send them the money for the rifle + postage and it was sent to my residence. <Simple as that>

It is a little easier to get a rifle, here. Permits only required for handguns. I wish more states were like KY, GA, TX to name a few. NJ, CA, and NY have too many liberals in high places. :(
