We had planned a trip this weekend to Texas to see my sister that I have not seen in 9 years and my neice and my new 2 week old nephew. I was so excited that I was finally going to see her and her family. Before we planned to go I made sure that I was not going to have to take any summer classes for college. I double checked with my advisor and she told me that I would not have to go the summer semester. So we went ahead and paid for our flight, hotel, ect. Well at the end of the semester she advised me that I had to take a summer course for my program and this would be the only time I could take it. The summer class started on the 11th and we were leaving on the 16th and coming back on the 19th. I thought well we could still go I would just have to miss a couple of days. Well come to find out that every monday there is an exam and if anybody misses a test he make you take a cumalitive at the end of the semester and he said it would be anywhere from 18-20 pages long all short answer and that he has never had anybody pass a make up.He hates to make make up exams. Well we cant go to texas so we call and cancel everything and get the noney back on our hotel stay but our flights we couldnt. Hotwire said since we bought our tickets at a discounted rate we cant change, transfer or refund.. I was like I dont want a refund I want to postpone for 3 weeks and that I have the dates. NO they wouldnt let us do nothing with them. They said either we use them or lose them. So not only did I not get to see my sister and her family we lost $690.00 because they wouldnt do one simple little thing for me. I will NEVER book through there agian. So now I dont know when I will get to see her.:(

Sorry guys this just aggravates the crap out of me.

I feel for ya...

There's probably 100 people I work with that are going to get their vacations messed up in the middle of next month.

Even when you have a discounted/non refundable ticket you can cancel the reservation and use the value of the ticket for a "like" flight. I do this all the time. You have 1 year from the cancel date to use the ticket value. Hotwire is pulling your leg, the ticket belongs to you so contact the airline to make sure you have canceled and to get the credit.

Good Luck

I think I would bill the advisor for $690.00. She isn't doing her job, but I bet she's still gettin paid for doing it.

Also, the teacher you have sounds like an ass.

Hope you get your money back or can use them later this summer.

rcb216 has called hotwire twice and they keep telling us the same bull. We were flying with United Airlines, so we called them directly and they told us that there was nothing they could do because we booked our flight thru a booking company .I even emailed them and we keep getting the same response. It sucks..
