[:(!] Had a call from a landowner in Lyon Co today, He said "Well we logged the place out good".....

"I've got both your deer stands here at the house".....

This is where that ONE Gobbler (yall remember[;)]) gave me a weeks worth of up, down, back, & forth, Then Back again. Now it's all gone.

I saw more deer and Turkey there than I could count. reckon I'll chalk it as a loss.

Logging won't hurt you too bad, as long as they still have roost trees. Hunting might be tougher with the laps? Maybe you can seed the skid trails and come out on top after all.

Don't be surprised if your deer hunting is better than ever[;)] The logging seems to bother hunters alot worse than it does the deer.

Logging will create alot of browse and cover for the deer. Loggin roads make good strut zones for gobblers.

It ain't braggin, if you can back it up.

They didn't clear cut it did they?

I would be rather excighted about the deer in the long run, if you in for the long haul there. Its going to be thicker than crap in there. Ol Big boys will love that.

From the way he talked it's been cut over really good, I'm gonna try and make it up for a look weds while I'm off. As for deer, If it ain't been cleared it will be better. I just know where those stands were was where the Birds were roosting.

You should never give up when it comes to hunting!! If you go hunting, and dont see anything the first time, dont give up. The deer might not be used to the new environment. Give them a week or 2 and things will be good!![:D]

We did a select cut on our property last year. The deer loved it! they seemed to feel really comfortable walking in all the treetops. You can use the treetops to make funnels to get the deer to go where you want them. I took my spring gobbler in the same area. Seeding the skidder trails would be great.

I can relate. I had a 300 acre farm across the road from my house that was awesome for turkeys. They (loggers) came in one year and logged it really hard. I had the same feelings about that farm as you do yours. I have not hunted it much since then because of the undergrowth being so thick that it is hard to make any kind of advancement on a turkey. It certainly does suck.[:(]

A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work.

P., I've read where BSK has said the "best thing you can do for deer is get sunlight to the ground. Don't give up yet!

We logged our farm last year, and they didn't finish 'til September. As far as I can tell, it didn't bother the deer at all. There were a couple of times I went out in the evenings after the loggers left, to see what they had cut that day, and saw deer right where that day's logging had taken place.

Also, they didn't cut anything really small, so there are still plenty of roost trees.

I hope you tell us how it looks after you check it out.

Good luck.

I scouted a place this yr. before turkey season that was being logged daily. Watched birds come off the roost, hang around til about 7:00-7:15am, 7:30 the skidder and loggers came down the hill. Saw this happen almost every day I went scouting there. 22.5 lbs, 7/8" spurs, 10" beard [:D]

They wont "colemine" it just because they log it. It is up to the owner to decide if he wants to "colemine" it. P.Beyer said that he got a call from the landowner. well, WE logged the place out good. Unless the owner wants to mine there, "coleminers" cant just come to a piece of land that has been logged without permission.
