I finally got my garden put in over the past two days. I was beginning to think it would never dry up long enough to run the tiller.:)

I'm in the ground as of last Sunday.

This year I was hoping to be able to grow Ghost Chilis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_Jolokia), but I don't think they will ever reach maturity due to the long and hot maturity period (120 days of 90+ degree temps in full sun).

Can't wait to start harvesting jalapenos again.

I dont think you'll make it. if it turns hot by in a couple weeks you might. you might want to try to put clear plastic huts over them to act as a greenhouse.

I knew up front it would be unlikely to happen. To me though that is half the fun of gardening...growing odd stuff just to see if you can and to see how it turns out.

Got a bunch of heirloom tomato's in last night. Gonna try Flames, Chocolate cherokees, Black tulas, Striped german, Marvel stripe, and Black krims besides the typical bigger/better boys that are already in. Gonna try to trellis my cukes this year, they spread everywhere last year. Should have peas not to far away, already tons of blooms out and around 3 ft. tall already. Never planted cantaloupes but will try to get them in Sunday.

Put several layers of wet newspaper under your canaloupes when they start tou run it will help keep the weeds down. Better than plastic because it adds compost in the fall.

Put my first garden in on sunday. I have been trying to put it in for about a month. Was trying to wait for it to dry a little better but my wife kept nagging me to get it in. She kept setting dates for me to get it done(have to be in by May 12 so on and so on.) Finally just tilled it up and planted was a little wet but I think it will be alright. Dont really know what I am doing but will see what happens!
