There is something that is bothering me and I have to ask what you guys think. For this upcomming bow season, I will be bow hunting for both deer and turkey while in the stand. I have a Sportsmen's license in my pocket so I have all of the necessary tags needed to do this. However, lets say that I will bow hunt a few places where I have corn piles out for deer. Now, I have no intention to shoot a turkey where I have baited for deer. However, if I get checked by a CO, how would he know that I have no intention to shoot a turkey in my baited areas? I have a bow in hand, deer and turkey archery tags in possession and I am hunting over bait. Is it just me or does their need to be a change made in the law, tags, etc. Seems like I could be cited under my example. Also, the current set up helps a poacher hunt over bait for turkeys with the CO having a hard time proving this. What do you guys think?

What you say is true--the solution is to outlaw baiting/feeding. The Dept. wants too, but the sportsman don't. If the turkey is under influence of the bait, you can't shoot it. If you were caught doing so, you would be cited. There's no easy fix other than to give up baiting or feeding in your hunting area.

sad part say your not baiting at all but the adjoining farm has bait on it...and you have no idea its there...if you harvest a turkey that was influenced by that bait your guilty of harvesting a turkey over a baited area...GET RID OF ALL Corn as bait continue to allow apples, salt etc
is about the only practical soulution

I hate to say it but you would be in a very delicate position to prove your innonence. They would consider you a poacher.
It ain't braggin, if you can back it up.

THIS SITUATION IS KINDA LIKE THE TOPIC IN THE GENERAL SECTION ABOUT COYOTE/DEER HUNTERS IT SEEMS THAT NOT MUCH THOUGHT WAS GIVEN BEFORE PASSING THESE LAWS ONCE AGAIN IT MAKES IT HARD ON BOTH THE OFFICER AND THE HUNTER WHO BOTH HAVE TO MAKE A JUDGEMENT CALL AND THIS CALL COULD GO EITHER WAY DEPENDING ON BOTH FACTS AND APPEARANCES IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION
THE LESS I SPEAK THE MORE I HEAR
I didnt think you could put out corn piles for deer either.

It's my understanding you could hunt over a dumptruck pile of corn for deer but for turkey's it's illegal (and toxic from the mold).

im sure plenty of thought went into most of these laws, but sometimes certain scenarios come up that turns into a "whos right" dilema.
the dept could use some of what you're expressing, public input!
