Plain got dang dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup...

What's the big deal? Canned soft drinks have fought back against inflation for 20 years. 3 cents isn't going to break anyone, and it might save a few teeth up in the hills....

Phil, if you think 3 cents is alot, wait until they start taxing us for all of the money that has already been spent and the money that is going to get spent in the next few years.

Social Security and Medicare are going to broke, and the only way they can fix it, is by increasing taxes.

Personally I believe we are getting ready to be taxed back to the stone age.

Things are going to get ugly and real soon.

It won't stop.

I bet if you figured out the true amount of tax you were actually paying it would be pretty disheartening.

It is one of the many ideas Congress is considering to finance a type of National Healthcare. Additionally they are looking at taxing the Healthcare benifits you receive from an employer. Traditionaly those benifits have been considered "tax free" but they are looking at taxing them just as income to generate revenue.

I am all for taxing Soda ...

its terrible for you and three cents isn't going to hurt anyone. Maybe this will curb the billions we spend on health care for the obese in this country.

While their at it though, I have an idea, why not prevent Food Stamp money being spent on sweets (soda, twinkies, etc) ?

As to where its going to stop... I have no idea. I do know that our country is in dire straight financially and tax money has got to come from somewhere.

You can increase taxes or CUT SPENDING !

The Republicrats and Dempublicans never seem to try the CUT SPENDING approach.

At my work and home, we some how manage to do it!

A 2005 study (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,159579,00.html) at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, and separate studies (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,292585,00.html)) released in 2007 at the University of Alberta in Canada and the University of Massachusetts found that diet soda drinkers were more likely than regular soda drinkers to be obese

Just a thought maybe we can tax all the imported goods that companys have outsourced overseas. Tax the hell out of them and make it cheaper to make goods in america again. It will create jobs and revenue and that alone will help alot with the problem we have.

And as said before stop allowing soft drinks and junk food to be bought with food stamps. A couple of weeks ago I seen a guy approx in his twentys in a speedway station. He had a 12 pack of mountain dew and whipped out the ole trusty government issued food debit card and payed for it. But he didn't stop there, He then proceeded on to buy a carton of smokes for which he pulled out a big wad of cash and laid a fast $50 on the counter. He bought lottery tickets with the change.

Before long I won't be surprised if they tax people on the air space above there property.

Kybow,

We have a little family farm. A good deal of the crop we grow is shipped to markets overseas. We don't have much of a profit margin but manage to get by. The LAST thing we need is a goofball idea like yours whereby the USA taxes imports & then the countries we ship to tax or exports. Many manufacturing jobs have already been lost by similar tariffs.

We now live in a global economy. The USA no longer has a mopoly on the world market.

Im glad you dont have a problem with the government telling us what we need to be doing in our life. Tax money will not touch what the government spends....and 3 cents a pop will do nothing to help. What it does is give the government more control over our lives and let them tell us whats good or bad for ourselves. Here's an idea....let the government tighten their belt and stop spending money that doesnt exist....and one more thing....how about they stay out of our lives and let us make our own choices. The government causes many more problems than they fix....thats a fact....and the POTUS we have now will distroy this country sad to say.

If 3 cents isn't going to hurt how will it curb anything? And same as with the cigarette tax if it does keep people from buying it they won't get as much tax money from it anyway. So then what will they tax?And why does tax money have to come from somewhere ? Why not quit throwing all the money away on BS? Or why not ease the taxes and license fees on small businesses so they can hire more people and get income taxes from them?
