well how was the birds in your neck of the woods ? give us a report.

I'm back! Damn it! We didn't have quite as good of luck as you guys, but did find a few birds. We averaged 11 grouse flushes a day in 10 days of actual hunting (not counting a few days where we basically got rained out and only hunted a little while) and brought back 16 birds. I didn't keep up with woodcock flushes, but there were fewer of them than grouse. The pups cost us a few birds, but by the end of the trip all three pups had pointed and held their own grouse and one pup really shined. I'm having trouble keeping buttons on my shirts over his progress. All in all, it was a very good trip with lots of R & R and better hunting than expected.

I'll try to find some time over the next few days, once I get caught up on stuff, to give grousegunner and Birdman a call to give a full update.
