When shooting T/C maxi-balls if I put 70 grains behind it it hits dead on at 50 yards, but if I put 90 grains behind it is dead on but about 6 to 7 in. low. Why would more powder make it shoot lower? I thought it would be the opposite.

I'm no expert but I would think that its because your velocity of your bullet went up so the arc of the bullet was decreased. Obviously at 50 yards your bullet is on its way up, so with more powder your bullet will hit lower because it won't have to arc as much to get there. I think I just confused myself!

I have seen five grains differance in loads cause muzzleloaders to do some strange things as far as accuracy. Differant guns act differant also in referance to differant brands of bullets of the same weight. If you can find that sweet spot YOUR gun (the load an bullet) likes than my advise would be stay with it
