Not a mineral but my guess is protein.

Ok, Ive got a bag of tecomate seed clover that im going to put out in one of my food plots. Hopefully i can have some good results with that!![:D]

The most important aspect of spring/summer antler growth is the previous winter's food sources and physical stresses.

Most of the seed companies agree that protien is what causes antlers to grow big. Who knows but I will tell you they grow some aweful big bucks on the tecomante ranch in TX.

Thats why we bought the tcomate clover seed. We watched an episode of realtree outdoors and our hearts just stopped. Some of those bucks had like 20 or 30 points!!![:D] We read the planting guide and we are gonna start planting around the middle of the summer so, you might be seeing some record bucks coming out of Ohio co. in a couple of years [:D] [:D] [:D]

deer need some calcium and phosphorus to help with anthler growth. You can buy some inexpensive beef minerals at your local feed store. Deer also need about a 16 percent protein diet year around.
It ain't braggin, if you can back it up.

Jeff, you may want to check your planting guide again. Sept. is normally the recommended planting time for fall plantings.

Most legumes which includes clovers fare better with late winter or early spring plantings, you can do a fall planting from late August thru October though.
