Turkeys-2,000 eggs only 50 make it?

I was told that only 50 eggs out of 2,000 eggs make it to adult turkeys or past their first year. Is that true? So onlyl 2.5% of the eggs laid by the hens make it? I find that hard to believe.

Its true. If you look up the numbers on any ground nesting bird they will be similar.

You can also figure of the 2.5% that make it, nearly half of those will die before they reach maturity! You can read that in George Wrights Turkey mortality study.......
