turkey hunting at our old homeplace and in the middle of some hot gobblin i smell smoke maybe they are not gobblin at me  and i found out quick that they wasnt.. it was a raging forest fire coming across the ridge .. now i could see how this might threaten a hunters life to be traped in a hollow but i used to work for the forestry so instinct kicked in and i aborted my bird.. to bad for the hunting spot though ... come to find out the guy down the road was burning his garden off and it got in the woods...

Dont understand people that start fires and cant keep them undercontrol

my neighbor did that last year and ruined the late deer season for me...

However, good forestry management calls for some controlled burns, to clear out undergrowth and promote fresh browse. Some of my best deer hunting has been the next year after a good burn. Of course that is here in Florida, but I think the theory holds true anywhere.

it burnt up both my hunting blinds but i guess it did clear out all the down brush from the ice storm..
