Saturday mourning didn't start out very promising. They weather was great but I only heard one bird gobble on the roost and he was a long distance off. So I decided to go check another spot on the farm. After a nice walk up a steep ridge I stopped and made a couple yelps on a mouth call. Nothing. I then started cuttin and got cut off by a gobble. After getting setup I called again and he answered. Then a hen started yelping between me and him. This is not good so I started cuttin again in hopes of getting her to come looking for a fight. This got her pissed off and she started cuttin and even tried to gobble. Within a couple of minutes here she comes. Time for me to be quiet and wait. She gets about 15 yds to my right and just stands looking for the hen that she intends to whoop. I then spot movement. Here he comes through the cedars. He stops at about 30 yds gobbles and breaks out if full strut. I got no shot at this point. Too thick. After a minute or two he drops out of strut and takes three steps and a load of number 6s ended a great hunt at 6:50 AM.
