I took my son hunting yesterday moring, we went to a location that has always had birds. We got in before day break and set up by 8:30 am we had not heard one gobble or yelp. I know the wind was up but we would have still heard them if they had been roosting like they always had in the past. I noticed the wind hitting the hill side where they roost could the wind have pushed them to roost else where is my question ?
The day was not a total lost got to send the day with my son and we saw a hen fly off her nest and he got to see turkey eggs for the first time. Good hunting.

That is weird. Your son told me last week that your place always has birds on it. Did ya take pics of the eggs? If so, have your son bring some pics to school. BTW, I got my bird yesterday on the family farm in Trigg. 22 lb, 10.5 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs with a 60 yard shot(misjudged distance, but still dropped him in his tracks)

Turkeys will always roost in a place out of the wind. It is one of the main factors when they choose their roosting trees. Often times the will move to the bottom of the hollows or into cedar thickets to get out of the wind. If you can find a ditch or the back side of a hill that is protected from the wind you will find a great concentration of birds.

Tech27, I did not even think about taking a picture I don't know why. I had the video camera and everything. We will be going back next weekend I will try to get one if the nest is still there.
