I harvested a bird this morning and I was wanting to put his fan on a plaque or use it on the b-mobile..does anyone know how to keep the feathers in place, and what kind of stuff i would need to put on there to keep of bugs, or keep the meat at the end from smelling...etc.

Use 20 mule team Borax (a laundry product) to coat the meat section of the fan...use a knife to get most of the meat off first. Work the Borax in very good into the joint.
Get a large piece of cardboard, or any large square board and lay the fan out...arrange the feathers the way you want the, and then use straight pins to pin it all in place.
Put it aside for a few weeks and it should be preserved and dried to the shape you made on the board.
I use finishing nails as sometimes pins pull out...put a good pile of borax under the meat on the cardboard and a good pile on top as well..I have fans from grouse and turkeys that are over 40 yrs old that are done this way. longer it cures the longer it will last I think

Buy you some fan danglers...
Put it somewhere where mice can not get ahold of it.;)

thanks everyone..ill be trying it out today..ill have to go to walmart or someplace to get the borax, hope they have it...
