What are the white blooming trees that bloom at the same time as redbuds? A lot of people think they are dogwoods but they're not if you look closer at them. Someone told me long ago what they where called and up until last year I knew what they were, but my mind has got sidetracked somewhere and can't think of what they're called now.

Serviceberry.....more than likely. Known as "sarvice" around here.

You talking about blooming pears?

Those are one of the worst trees man ever made, garbage trees

We got several dogwoods in bloom here too, but I know what you are talking about they were in bloom a couple weeks ago and there not bradford pears. I think they may be locust trees but i am not sure I was actually wondering the same thing.

Bradford Pear....the great self pruning tree. I have about 10 in my yard, they look good and have a nice shape, but they break very easily.

No pears either.

They also grow fast and have a shallow root system which means they blow over really easy. But they're pretty until then...

I believe my subdivision is the Bradford Pear capital of the world. My house may be the only one that doesn't have at least one.

Bradford pears will last a long time if you go into them and take limbs/branches out instead of topping which causes more limbs/branches which increases the weight which causes them to break out. Without proper delimbing they are a 10-15 year tree.

Those Bradford pears suck. They spread like dandelions and stink like a pig pen when they bloom. Sure they look pretty, but they junk trees that a strong sneeze will destroy. Now I have an Aristocrat pear which not only looks nicer but has yet to lose a single limb in 4 years with all of the wind, ice, and drought we have had. Much nicer tree for yards than Bradfords.
