I'm pretty new to shooting a muzzle loader. So I have been having a little trouble deciding what kind of scope I would want to get for it.

I have a Thomson Center Black Diamond that I got as a Christmas gift. I haven't been doing to well shooting open sites with it, and think a scope may be the way to go for me. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't think I'll need something with a high power magnification on it, there aren't that many places to take a long shot around here, mostly within a 100 yards with any type of gun. I do want something to bring the deer up a little closer when I look through it, something easy to spot them out with and not have to do a whole lot of searching, and something that isn't going to tear up in just a couple of years.

Any suggestions? Anyone have one they would like to sell?

I like bushnell 3x9x40 banner. They arent real expensive so you will not mind the powder burns you will get on it.

I've got a Simmons Aetec 2.8x10 X 44 on my Knight. Good scope and holds true year after year.

hey,a scope on a muzzle loader is a great advantage, just make sure its legal in your area, and any scope will work, but a 4 power fixed or a 3x9 40 mm is good, rember that you can over scope your gun,as a answer to your other problem,I know for a fact your black diomond was dead on at 100 yards out of the box, when it left the factry,ok now lets talk load, try a 100 grains of 777 or 2 777 pellets with a 295 power belt, ill put money on it you will be dead on a again, let me know, ive now killed moose, elk, deer, bear and hogs with this load,so I do know itt works well, and I shoot this out of 11 different muzzle loaders that I own.good luck keep the smoke pole warm.chet
