It seems like Wal-Mart doesn't carry the turkey gear they once did, especially the camo. Your best bet is to probably order from Wing Supply, Bass Pro, etc.

I agree....Wal-Mart is the only store that has a sporting goods section here and I have been disappointed with their selection this year. I have had to order everything on-line or drive 40 to 50 miles to a outdoor store. I have also noticed Wal-Mart hasn't carried any handgun ammo in the last 3-4 months...anyone know why???

Why they havent had any handgun ammo?

Its because people are hoarding handgun ammo BAD. There is a major shortage.

As far as the camo goes I gotta agree wingsupply is a great place to get stuff. Their specials are incredible. A while ago there was some decoys posted on here for like $6 a piece. I imagine if you shop their camo you can find something reasonable.

I was at Bass Pro Shop a couple of weeks ago and they didn't have any handgun ammo. I thought that was really strange.

i was told by an manager that wally world was doing a way with all their hunting an fishing things by like 2012 or 2015.Around here it looks to be true cause i have been in one that still has guns.

I've heard the same thing...only I heard it from Buck Gardner. He said they Wal Mart was always one of his biggest contracts for his waterfowl gear/calls, but in the last couple of years they haven't carried it and this past season, they carried no waterfowl supplies in my part of the state. This year they were very slim in turkey gear and didn't reorder if anything sold out quick. Mr. Gardner said they were doing away with all hunting supplies and I believe it. We just got a brand new "Super Center" in my hometown. They stocked absolutely no firearms, only some muzzleloaders that were left over from the old store, and said they weren't ever getting any guns, because the stores in the counties near us had firearms...haha. Looks like the only place I've had close for some quick hunting stuff has left me high and dry. Oh well...Uncle Lee's is only two hours away...haha.

Im startin to wonder about Wally World.......

Up here all the Super Wal Marts have cleared out the main aisles so that you can practically drive a pick up truck around the stores now.......

Either they are expecting this economy to be much worse or they are hurting financially......

I have a feeling they are putting on a show, so that by the end of the year they can ask the government for bail-out money

Could also be that they are getting ready for a remodel to their latest corporate styling.

A couple of them in this area did the same thing and then pulled a complete interior and exterior remodel.

I'm sure there are many reasons Wal-mart has chose to reduce the amount of hunting and fishing products. One and probably the biggest is public image.

I don't think it's one of the biggest reasons, but likely has some merit and that is all of the Bass Pro, Gander Mtns, Cabelas and the likes of Dick's Sporting Goods popping up in Regional areas. These stores are an attraction of sorts with what they have to offer. It's to the point where a person can walk into a Bass Pro within a couple hours of home in most places.
