Son connected on Depot

We had a great day on the Depot youth hunt yesterday. They put us right on the birds. Gobbling everywhere. The only problem was there was a fence and a very fast flowing creek between us and the longbeards. We were patient and pulled a couple of Jakes within range about 8:00 but they did'nt present a shot. We walked a little and located a couple of other gobblers around 9:30. We set up and pulled them in within 75 yds, but no closer. They put on a good show. Walked again and located another gobbler around 11:00. He came in very fast. My son put it on him. His second shot, put the bird out of his misery, but messed the bird up a little. 21 pounds, 10 1/2 beard and one inch spurs. This was a fourth time on the depot and first time he connected.

how do you get on? You have to apply for depot hunts in Sept. They have youth deer, turkey, and adult deer bow and muzzleloader and adult turkey. I'm scheduled to hunt there April 28th.

how do you apply??? i understand you cant until sept. but i need to know..i mean being 4 hours from home here at school kinda limits my hunting time....

You apply thru fish and wildlife, if selected, then you need to get criminal background check.
